What is the difference?
Gift Idea — something you may give. It can grow into a fully planned Gift with a source, price, photo, Occasion, status and fulfilment information.
Hint — something the Person said, implied or revealed that may be useful later. A Hint is valuable even before you know what gift it suggests.
Context — durable information about the Person: interests, dislikes, preferences, life changes, style or other useful relationship memory.

Link a Hint to an Idea
Use provenance when the Idea came from something the Person previously said.

- Choose Link a hint.
- Select the relevant Hint.
- Save the relationship.
The journal can then preserve why the Idea exists rather than reducing it to an unexplained shopping entry.
Turn a Hint into a Gift Idea
- Open the Person’s Hints section or find the Hint in Journal.
- Open its actions.
- Choose Turn into gift idea.
- Review/edit the new Idea.
- Save.
The provenance between the original Hint and the resulting Idea is preserved unless you deliberately unlink it.

- Choose Delete only when you intend to remove it.
If a Hint is protected, authentication is required before its private content can be viewed or acted on.
